I will finish posting the last days of our trip now. Only 2 weeks after our return but still nice to be remembering! Thanks for staying tuned!

Saturday 21st

When we left Arnstadt, we stopped in Erfurt (which was just 20 minutes away) at a Harley Davidson shop.  We had seen quite a few motorcycles along our trip & many Harleys so figured we’d look for a shop to get a t-shirt.  (Needed to find something for Devin!)  This shop even had a little stagecoach!

Then off again, heading for Kiel.  On the way we saw quite a few castles but didn’t have time to stop & visit.  Maybe next time?!

One common thing we noticed in all the countries we visited was there were many, many people using bicycles for transportation.  Not on the highway but in the cities & towns.  And not just young people.  There were many elderly on bikes too!  Most of the countries did have paved bicycle paths & walkways that were separate from the main traffic.  That’s another thing we here in the US could sure learn to do more!  Thought this billboard was quite interesting, especially with the other sign in the background!

"Encouraging bicycle is still beautiful" (loose translation)

On the way to the ferry we passed by a little cafe restaurant that we thought was interesting.  Had seen it when we first arrived in Kiel too.  Sister-in-law Linda would sure love this!  We didn't have time to stop but again - next time!

Made it onto the Stena Germanica in Kiel by late Sat afternoon.  Got some photos of the ship before we drove on board.  It’s quite a large ferry - even the large semi trucks travel by this ferry!

The weather was quite a bit warmer this time than when we left Goteborg on the ferry but not as clear, a bit more hazy.

We had the same type of cabin as we did on the first journey.  And we also got the same hostess, Linda.  This time she was also going to sing during the dinner break.  She said she has wanted to be a professional singer & has even composed her own songs.  Dinner was very enjoyable that night!

And here she is in front of a large coffee machine - one I've never seen before!  She said it's one that's advertised by George Clooney - Nespresso.  It does make pretty good coffee!
